A padel evening rarely fails at the playing. It fails at the organising beforehand. This sequence has proved itself:

The rule of thumb: player counts divisible by four run smoothest — nobody sits out. Given the choice, invite eight rather than nine.

Which format for how many players?

The other question that decides every evening: how many of you are there? Padel plans don’t start at eight — four, five or six players get a fair schedule too. Odd numbers are no obstacle: the app spreads the byes evenly and announces who sits out.

PlayersRecommendation
4Americano — three rounds, everyone partners everyone and faces everyone, no byes. For fixed pairs: Team Americano
5 to 7Americano — byes are spread fairly across the group, odd numbers are perfectly fine
8Everything is on the table: Americano, Mexicano or King of the Court on two courts, a knockout with four teams
12 or moreMexicano or King of the Court on three courts — or a knockout, with sixteen players entirely without byes

Frequently asked

How long should a padel evening be?
Two hours is the proven frame. Beyond that most groups lose concentration and matches drag.
What if someone cancels at short notice?
If the number no longer divides by four, someone sits out each round. The schedule can be regenerated for the new player count. This resets any results already entered; save a copy of them first.
Do you need an umpire?
No. In social tournaments the players count themselves. The organiser enters the results, which is enough.
How do you share the schedule?
Easiest by link or QR code. When scanned, people see the rounds, courts, and any results already entered on their phone.
What do you play in padel with four players?
Americano: in three rounds everyone partners everyone once and plays against everyone — a complete round-robin with no byes. If you prefer fixed pairs, take Team Americano. Mexicano and King of the Court only pay off from eight players, and a knockout with four becomes a straight final.
